10-Day Central Asia Adventure: Southern Kazakhstan & Uzbekistan

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Almaty

  • Arrive in Almaty, Kazakhstan’s cultural hub.
  • Explore Green Bazaar for local food and crafts.
  • Walk around Panfilov Park and visit the Zenkov Cathedral.
  • Dinner in a local restaurant, try traditional dishes like beshbarmak.

Day 2: Almaty – Start 2-Day Nature Circuit

  • Morning departure for Kolsai Lakes.
  • Hike around the lakes and enjoy the alpine scenery.
  • Lunch in a local village.
  • Afternoon visit to Lake Kaindy, famous for submerged trees.
  • Overnight in a local guesthouse.
  • Tipp! Book through the local agency KK Tour and contact them on instagram. Their price is very fair (ca. 45e per person for the whole week-end)

Day 3: Charyn Canyon – Return to Almaty

  • Breakfast at guesthouse.
  • Morning hike in Charyn Canyon, admire the “Little Grand Canyon” formations.
  • Picnic lunch by the river.
  • Afternoon return to Almaty.
  • Free evening to explore the city or relax.

Day 4: Almaty to Tashkent via Nature Stop

  • Early departure from Almaty towards Uzbekistan.
  • Stop at Big Almaty Lake, a glacial lake with stunning mountain views.
  • Short hike or picnic by the lake.
  • Continue journey to Tashkent (6–7 hours by car or train).
  • Evening arrival in Tashkent, check into hotel.

Day 5: Tashkent – Urban Exploration

  • Visit Khast Imam Complex, home to historic Islamic manuscripts.
